报告摘要：

Modern process industry is awash with large amount of data. Extraction of information and knowledge discovery from data, particularly from day by day routine process operating data, is especially challenging. There are numerous issues such as data nonlinearity, non-Gaussian, high dimensionality, collinearity, multiple mode, outlier, missing measurement etc that must be considered during the information extraction process. This presentation will focus on applications of big data analytics in two practical examples. One is in image processing and the other one is in interface detection based on images. The procedure and powerfulness of big data analytics in solving practical engineering problems are illustrated. Further research directions are also explored.
